Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, every workplace in England must have enough trained people to help everyone get out safely if there is a fire. This half day Fire Marshal course gives your nominated staff the confidence and practical skills to do exactly that.
What you will learn
We cover the science of fire, how it spreads, how to prevent it and what a fire marshal actually does before, during and after an evacuation. The session is a mix of classroom learning, real case studies from Dorset businesses and hands on practice using live extinguishers on our training rig.

Frequently asked questions
How many fire marshals does my business need?
It depends on the size and layout of your building, how many people are in it and the level of risk. As a rule of thumb, one fire marshal for every 20 people on each floor, plus cover for holidays and sickness. Your fire risk assessment should state the number.
How long does the fire marshal certificate last?
We recommend refresher training every three years, or sooner if your workplace or role changes significantly.
Is there a test?
There is a short multiple choice assessment at the end of the course. Almost everyone passes first time and the trainer will support you throughout.
Do you use real extinguishers?
Yes. Every delegate gets hands on practice with live extinguishers on our safe training rig, weather permitting.
