The Emergency First Aid at Work course is the most popular first aid qualification in the UK. In a single day you will learn how to deal with the emergencies you are most likely to face, from a colleague collapsing to serious bleeding, choking and burns.
HSE compliant, regulated qualification
This is a regulated Level 3 Award that meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. Your certificate is valid for three years and is accepted by employers, insurers and inspectors nationwide.
Hands on from start to finish
You will practise CPR on adult manikins, use a training defibrillator (AED), place a casualty in the recovery position and bandage real wounds on real people. Karlene keeps the pace lively and the atmosphere friendly, so nobody feels put on the spot.
Is EFAW enough for my workplace?
For lower risk workplaces with fewer than 25 staff, EFAW is usually sufficient. Larger or higher risk sites, such as construction, manufacturing or care, normally need the three day First Aid at Work course. If you are not sure, use our free course finder or give us a call.

Frequently asked questions
How many first aiders do I need?
The HSE does not set a fixed number. A low risk workplace with fewer than 25 staff normally needs at least one EFAW trained person. Your first aid needs assessment will confirm this. We are happy to help you work it out.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes you can kneel on the floor in. The course is practical.
Is there an exam?
Assessment is continuous throughout the day with a short practical demonstration and a few multiple choice questions. Almost everyone passes.
